On July 25, 2025, the Gabon Pavilion at the Osaka World Expo vibrated to the rhythm of a rich and strategic program, illustrating the country's desire to position itself as a major player in global sustainable development.
Meeting a modern Gabon, anchored in its values
From the early hours of the morning, guests – institutions, investors, Japanese representatives and members of the diaspora – were welcomed in the elegant “Festival Station” room. The welcoming address given by Mrs. Nina Abouna , General Commissioner of Exhibitions of Gabon, immediately set the scene: to promote Gabonese excellence through an event designed as a true journey of economic, cultural and ecological discovery.
The official opening was held by His Excellency Mr. Alexandre Barro Chambrier , Vice-President of the Government, who reaffirmed the ambition of the President of the Republic, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema , to make the Gabonese forest a strategic lever for green, inclusive and sovereign growth.
Concrete opportunities for investors
The focus was first on the business climate in Gabon, thanks to the presentation of ANPI-Gabon (National Agency for the Promotion of Investments). This intervention paved the way for a high-level ministerial panel , bringing together:
Mr. Maurice Ntossui Allogho , Minister of Water and Forests,
Mr. Pascal Ogowet Siphon , Minister of Sustainable Tourism and Crafts,
Me Lubin Ntoutoume , Minister of Industry and Local Transformation.
This government trio presented structuring projects, ranging from sustainable forest management to local transformation of resources , including the development of responsible tourist circuits . The objective: to make Gabon an African laboratory for green development.

Gabonese forest at the heart of climate diplomacy
The highlight of the morning was the panel on the valorization of the Gabonese forest , moderated by Dr. Yoan Michel Mboussou, physician and president of the NGO Gabon Terre Avenir. Through three major presentations, the speakers presented the invaluable assets of the Gabonese equatorial forest:
Mr. Sidy Diop (Deloitte) unveiled a study on the economic and financial value of the Gabonese forest.
Professor Alfred Ngomanda (CENAREST) highlighted the crucial role of forests in carbon sequestration and regulation of the global climate .
Dr. Étienne Akomo Okoué shared the scientific advances of the gorilla habituation program in Moukalaba-Doudou, illustrating a possible cohabitation between biodiversity and development.
This panel recalled that Gabon, with 88% of its territory covered by forest, is one of the green lungs of the planet .
High value-added sectors on the horizon
The afternoon was devoted to sector investments in key areas:
Ecotourism , with the intervention of the National Agency of National Parks and the FMCT.
The coffee-cocoa sector , with the support of CAISTAB.
Wood processing , at the heart of the industrial sovereignty strategy.
The thematic round tables , organized in B2B format, allowed Japanese investors to engage in direct dialogue with Gabonese decision-makers, in a spirit of co-construction.
A cultural and sensory immersion
The conference concluded with a Gabonese culinary tasting , orchestrated by chef Chef Anto , followed by an immersive visit to the Gabon Pavilion : presentation of “Made & Created in Gabon” products, projection of virtual reality videos, “Amazing Gabon” photo exhibition, and a showcase paying tribute to Dr. Albert Schweitzer.
This day was much more than a showcase: it embodied a vision of the future where Gabon becomes a global strategic partner , strong in its natural heritage, its living traditions and its openness to innovation.
