On July 25 and 26, 2025, the Amazing Gabon initiative showcased Gabon's biodiversity at Expo 2025 Osaka through a unique photo exhibition. Thanks to the support of the General Exhibition Commissioner, headed by Ms. Nina Abouna, the Japanese public was able to discover a series of photographs celebrating the flora and fauna of one of the world's richest ecosystems.

A photographic showcase for the Gabonese forest at Expo Osaka

As part of Gabon's official participation in Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai , the Amazing Gabon exhibition found its natural place. The competition, created to promote Gabon's natural heritage and raise awareness of its protection , presented at the Gabonese pavilion more than a hundred photographs selected from 300 participants .

This selection, orchestrated by competition director Steed Rey , highlighted rare scenes of Gabonese wildlife —forest elephants, gorillas, panthers—as well as striking portraits of the lush flora of national parks, mangroves, lakes and tropical massifs.

A collective mobilization around a clear message: protect living things

The exhibition is fully in line with the vision of the President of the Republic, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema , who is working to make Gabon a global showcase for the preservation of tropical forests , by integrating biodiversity issues into a sustainable and inclusive approach.

The partnership between Amazing Gabon and the General Exhibition Commission embodies this ambition: to make the Gabonese forest a subject of international dialogue , capable of raising visitors' awareness of the climate emergency while promoting the country's environmental commitments.

Photography and awareness: an alliance in the service of ecology

Amazing Gabon's approach is based on a simple but powerful conviction: photography can awaken consciences . By freezing the grace of a mandrill in the mist or the momentum of a buffalo in the savannah, these images tell what is at stake: the survival of a unique natural heritage , the disappearance of which would be a loss for all humanity.

In Osaka, these photos triggered curiosity, wonder, but also concrete exchanges with the public on the efforts made by Gabonese NGOs and institutional actors to protect this biodiversity .

A strong image of Gabon: modern, green and committed

Through this exhibition, Gabon has sent a strong signal: development can be compatible with nature . By relying on universal media such as images, the country is asserting a discreet but effective strategy of influence, capable of positioning the Gabonese forest as a global common good .

Steed Rey, who was present on site, welcomed this opening:

“The Osaka World Expo gave us a unique opportunity to share our message beyond borders. It is an honor to represent the beauty of Gabon through the eyes of its photographers.”

Conclusion: making the forest a subject of emotion and decision

The Amazing Gabon exhibition in Osaka wasn't just a simple hanging of images. It was an act of commitment , an artistic plea for Gabon to remain a global sanctuary of life . What if these photos could influence decisions tomorrow?

The challenge is on.
